Frequently asked questions

Quick answers. Each one links to the full guide.

Getting started

What is a shopping agent?
A service that buys from Chinese marketplaces for you, checks your items at its warehouse and ships them abroad. You pay the agent; they deal with the Chinese sellers. Start with your first order.
Is it safe to buy this way?
Agents hold your items and show you photos before anything ships, so you can return or exchange problems while they're still in China. Pay with a card or PayPal, start with a small order, and read the QC guide.
How long does an order take?
Usually 2 to 5 weeks in total: about a week for items to reach the warehouse and be checked, then 1 to 3 weeks of international shipping depending on the line.

Ordering and payment

Which links can I order from?
Product pages on Taobao, Tmall, Weidian, 1688 and JD. Shop pages and social posts won't work. See how to order.
Why do I pay twice?
You pay for items first, then for international shipping once your parcel is packed and weighed. See every fee explained.
What if the seller is out of stock?
The agent cancels that item and refunds you, usually to your account balance.

QC and returns

What are QC photos?
Photos the warehouse takes of each item when it arrives so you can check it before shipping. Here's what to look for.
Can I return something?
Usually yes, while it's still in the warehouse and within the return window (often about 5 to 7 days). See returns and exchanges.

Shipping and customs

Which shipping line should I pick?
For most hauls, a special line with tax included gives the best total price. Express is fastest; sea is cheapest for heavy parcels. Compare the lines.
Why is my shipping so expensive?
You're probably being charged for volume. Remove shoe boxes and ask for compact packing. Try the weight calculator.
Will I pay import tax?
Often, yes. It depends on your country and the line. Tax-included lines build it into the shipping price. See customs by country.
My tracking hasn't moved in days. Is it lost?
Probably not. Tracking often pauses between leaving China and arriving in your country. Contact your agent if there's been no update for more than about 10 days.
