What QC photos are
When an item reaches the agent's warehouse, staff photograph it, usually 3 to 6 photos from different angles. These "QC" (quality check) photos are your only chance to inspect the item before it's shipped abroad. Once the parcel leaves China, returning anything is almost impossible.
Checklist for every item
- Is it the right item?Compare with the listing: model, colour and any print or logo.
- Is it the right size?Find the size tag in the photos. If there's no tag shot, ask for one.
- Any damage?Look for stains, holes, loose threads, scratches and glue marks.
- Do the measurements match? For clothing, ask for a flat-lay measurement of the chest and length if the fit matters.
- Is everything included?Laces, dust bags, straps, extra buttons, whatever the listing shows.
Clothing
- Check stitching along seams and hems: straight, even, no loose ends.
- Check prints and embroidery for smudges, cracks or crooked placement.
- Check the colour under daylight-style lighting. Warehouse lights can make colours look warmer.
Shoes
- Look at both shoes side by side. Shape and stitching should match.
- Check for glue stains around the sole and creases on the toe box.
- Check the size label inside the tongue matches what you ordered.
Bags and accessories
- Check hardware (zips, buckles, clasps) for scratches and colour.
- Check edge paint and stitching on leather goods.
- For jewellery and watches, ask for close-ups; small flaws don't show in wide shots.
Asking for more photos
Most agents offer extra photos for a small fee, or free detail shots. Be specific: "close-up of the size tag", "photo of the left side stitching", "measure chest width flat". Vague requests get vague photos.
GL or RL?
Buyers often reply GL ("green light", happy to ship) or RL ("red light", return or exchange). If you RL an item, see returns and exchanges. Only GL when every point on the checklist is fine.
